Ginger, Labrador
Retriever, CD, CDX, CGC, TDI. . . and 1/2 of a JH
November 1988 - February 2001
Ginger earned her first CD leg with a 2nd place in
Novice A at Kim's first obedience trial in 1989 and
went on to complete her CD with no NQ's, several
placements and a few legs to spare, finishing at 15
months. She earned her CDX in 5 trials at 2 years old
in 1990. The team took a break while Kim's daughter Lauren was born in
1991. In 1992, Ginger began Utility training, was fun
matching in 1993 and began showing in 1994. She also
earned two Junior Hunter legs during that time, but
took a break from training for hunt tests to
concentrate on Utility. Unfortunately, Ginger was hit
by a car the day after the first trial of the fall
season in 1994, ending her obedience and hunting careers. After extensive orthopedic surgery and 5
months crate confinement, she recovered from her
injuries enough to become a fabulous companion and
continue her Therapy Dog work and has become a
frequent visitor at the Training Center. A photograph
of her doing the Retrieve Over the High Jump became
part of the logo for the Obedience Training Center.
